President Kagame Meets South Korean Counterpart for Bilateral Talks Ahead of Korea-Africa Summit
President Paul Kagame of Rwanda engaged in discussions with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol in Seoul on Monday, June 3, to bolster bilateral relations and cooperation across various sectors. The meeting precedes the inaugural Korea-Africa Summit, slated to commence on Tuesday.
Kagame’s visit to Seoul, initiated on Sunday, marks his attendance at the first Korea-Africa Summit. During his stay, he is scheduled to receive an Honorary Doctorate from Yonsei University, a testament to his contributions and leadership.
The summit is anticipated to attract African leaders, international organization representatives, as well as prominent figures from Korean and global business communities, academia, and civil society. Themed “The Future We Make Together: Shared Growth, Sustainability, and Solidarity,” the summit aims to fortify practical cooperation between South Korea and Africa.
President Kagame, alongside other Heads of State and Government, is poised to deliver remarks at the summit’s opening ceremony. Co-chaired by President Yoon Suk Yeol and Mohamed El Ghazouanu of Mauritania, who serves as the African Union Chairman, the summit seeks to cultivate a collaborative environment for mutual growth and solidarity between South Korea and the African continent.
